FFFoxy Podcast #205: Ramble Records feature

On this episode of the podcast, I focus in on the work of the Melbourne, Australia-based label, Ramble Records. Over the past two years, Ramble has been rather prolific in its output, issuing a wide range of releases specializing in outsider music, guitar music, acid folk, avant-folk, psych, free jazz, Indian classical, and avant-garde sounds from around the globe. Owned and operated by Mike Sill – a musician himself who records under the name The Man From Atlantis – the label has also branched out to include a mailorder operation that stocks various like-minded labels from around the world that were previously unavailable in Australia. I recently had a chance to chat with Mike about various topics that included his background in making music starting in the 1990s, his eventual return to music with The Man From Atlantis, his motivations behind starting and expanding Ramble Records, and some of his future plans for the label for the rest of the year. You’ll hear that interview in a few different segments throughout the show, and you’ll also hear track selections from several releases from the Ramble Records catalog, including some of their most recent titles. I hope you enjoy this episode. Feel free to get in touch if you have any comments or questions. As always, thanks for looking and listening.
