KMSU Spring Pledge Drive 2018

KMSU’s annual Spring Pledge Drive starts on Wednesday, April 18 and runs through Friday, April 27th. The station’s goal this time around is to raise an ambitious $40,000. As we’re sure many listeners of independent public radio fully understand, these fundraisers aren’t just a means to bring in much-needed money to help pay for operating expenses, they are a chance to reaffirm the station’s viability to the powers that be and to the community as a whole. We’ve been fortunate to see this little station grow and thrive over the past decade and beyond and a big part of that has been from the overwhelming support of KMSU’s listeners. We hope that we can continue to offer an independent voice within our community and continue to present unique programming and events throughout the year that people will want to get behind.

On Thursday, April 19, and again on the 26th, Free Form Freakout will be on the air at 2:00 p.m. (C.S.T.) doing our part to encourage you to make a donation to this station that we are so proud to be a part of. KMSU has a variety of thank-you gifts for those that make a donation at different pledge amounts, all of which can be viewed on the KMSU website. As always, though, Free Form Freakout will also have a few exclusive items available, too.

Thanks to the generous folks at Ever/Never Records out of New York, we are pleased to have a small stash of the private press classic Fantastic Greatest Hits by Charlie Tweddle to giveaway. We’re confident that any regular listeners of Free Form Freakout will appreciate the mixture of oddball, country-folk strummers and bizarro, environmental sound-collages spread across this deluxe double LP reissue. As the late Patrick Lundberg of The Acid Archives wrote about Fantastic Greatest Hits: “Twisted back porch acid-folk blues with amazing lyrics…One of the major pieces in the Fringe of Everything genre.” For a donation of $50 you’ll get this 2LP gem, plus we will throw in another surprise LP or CD to sweeten the deal. We only have a limited supply of these, so you may want to act fast.

Whether you can swing $50 or not, we would simply love to hear from as many of you out there as possible. Whatever amount you can chip in, even $5, all makes a difference and helps keep KMSU a viable presence on the airwaves and in our community. You can make a donation at any time through the KMSU website or by calling 507-389-5678. Feel free to call or text during our show on Thursday, or get in touch with us in advance at fffreakout[at]hotmail[dot]com if you have any questions or if you have an interest in picking up our exclusive premium. Thanks for your consideration.
