FFFoxy Podcast #224: Carbon Records feature

On this episode, we delve into the work of the Rochester, New York-based label, Carbon Records. Started in 1994 by Joe Tunis as a means of documenting his own projects and other local bands, the label as gone on to issue numerous releases by artists from across the U.S. and around the world. The label’s catalog covers a quite range of material from indie pop and heavy psychedelic rock to more experimental and improvisational works that veer towards the outer realms. I had a chance to speak with Joe this past week and we discussed some of the history of Carbon Records and the changes that have occurred in close to three decades of running a small independent label. We also touched on some of Joe’s other projects, including his weekly radio show called Numbers, his podcast and zine called My Teeth Need Attention, and his involvement in the long-running group Pengo. You’ll get to hear this conversation with Joe in a few different segments throughout the show, along with track selections from several of the newer releases that have come out on Carbon. I hope you enjoy this episode. Feel free to get in touch if you have any comments or questions. As always, thanks for looking and listening.
