FFFreakout #427-429

There was lots to talk about and lots to play over the past few weeks on the show. First and foremost, we were fortunate enough to get see the epic hometown reunion of The Replacements at Midway Stadium, which turned out being one of the most memorable shows we’ve seen in quite some time. With perfect weather, pre-show tailgating, good friends, and good music, you couldn’t ask for a better time. David also took in some excellent solo guitar performances up at the Old Familiar Chime festival in Minneapolis the other night. Michael Chapman dazzled with his effortless finger-picking prowess, while Matthew DeGennaro’s tributes to Pip Proud and Peter Gutteridge (not to mention Richard Pryor) carried a subtle emotional heft to them. We, too, marked the sad passing of NZ great Peter Gutteridge on this week’s show by playing a few songs from some of his many remarkable musical activities. Do yourself a favor and track down his lone solo album Pure now if you haven’t already done so.
