Last week, we mentioned we were dealing with sub-zero temperatures; this week, it was blizzard-like conditions that actually prevented Carl from making it up to the radio station. David tried to hold down the fort, spinning some favorites both new and old. Though long overdue, it felt like the right time to play something from…
Well, we survived the polar vortex of death with our fingers and ears intact, and we sure hope you were able to do the same. Our playlist for today’s show, though unintentional, seemed to capture the flux of lethargy and pent-up energy that sets in after spending several days hunkered down inside. The new Black…
We wanted to get one more podcast show in before the new year as we had, and still have, a bunch of incredible new music we wanted to share and spotlight. We briefly discussed the return of the Oakland-based imprint DNT Records, gave props to House of Alchemy for their latest batch of tapes (perhaps…
During the first half of this week’s show, David spun some of his recent acquisitions from over the holidays, where he put his gift cards to good use to grip the 45th Anniversary Deluxe Edition of the Velvet Underground’s seminal White Light/White Heat album and Captain Beefheart’s lost classic Bat Chain Puller, amongst other used bin…
As is often the case when David does the weekly show on his own, he’ll break out some ridiculously lengthy numbers to avoid babbling on about record labels, personnel, and release dates that few people could give a rip about. This time around it was an epic 19-minute piece from the Swedish free jazz big…
Here is the follow-up to our previous list of favorite tapes of the year. This is a list of twenty albums, both new and reissued works, that we played on our podcast show throughout the year that truly captured our attention and imagination. As we mentioned before, there are a number of other artists, releases,…
On the latest episode of the FFFoxy Podcast, we delved into a pile of micro-label releases from around the globe making note of a few of our year-end list additions, including the latest from the Brisbane duo, Primitive Motion, the stellar debut from the vinyl mastering guru, Rashad Becker, and the excellent collaborative effort between…
On this week’s show, we spun some more gems from the Australian underground in anticipation of the forthcoming release from Blank Realm. Carl also brought in a box of dusty 45’s that he recently uncovered while cleaning out the basement of Tune Town. Yes, there was theme music from a certain hot dog manufacturer played…
As we’ve done during previous years, we compiled a list of some of our favorite tape releases that we played on our podcast show during 2013. In the weeks ahead, we will be doing the same for our other favorite LPs, CDs, reissues, etc. Even though we listened to literally hundreds of tapes throughout the…
Bill Shute of Kendra Steiner Editions, who appeared on a few of our Jandek Study Group Overnight shows and whose work was featured on our podcast, has been one of the few writers out there to continue to provide thoughtful coverage of Jandek’s recent output. We’ve said it time and time again, Jandek is producing…
