FFFoxy Podcast #267: Round Bale Recordings feature

This month marks the 15th anniversary of the podcast show. I was considering a few different possibilities for a special episode to mark this minor milestone, or simply moving forward as usual. Staying aligned with the regular label features that I’ve been doing throughout the podcast show’s history, I decided that now was maybe a fitting time to dig into the artists and output of our own in-house label, Round Bale Recordings, which I’ve always considered to be an extension of the podcast show.

For this episode, rather than me trying to tell the story of Round Bale Recordings in some sort of rambling monologue format, I decided it was best to speak with some of the artists I’ve been fortunate to have worked with on multiple releases over the years. This past week, I chatted with Nathan McLaughlin and Cody Yantis of Tilth, Russell Hoke, Kevin Cahill of Family Ravine and Downer Canada, and Doug Busson of Yuasa-Exide. Our conversations centered around their music and some of the releases they put out on Round Bale Recordings, but also about the human connections made and personal relationships formed through getting acquainted with each other in this small network of fringe music. To me, that seems to be a better telling of the story of Round Bale Recordings and Free Form Freakout up to this point. You’ll hear those conversations spread throughout the show, along with tracks from many different titles from the Round Bale Recordings’ catalog. I hope you enjoy this one. Feel free to get in touch if you have any comments or questions. As always, thanks for looking and listening.
