FFFoxy Podcast #259

On this episode of the podcast, I’ve got a bunch of new releases to play and discuss again, but I also broke out a handful of older titles to include for one reason or another. About that image you see above, I think for as long as I’ve been doing the podcast show, I’ve always posted a slightly blurry, poorly taken photo of the physical releases played on each episode as the main image for the website/blog post. That sort of quickly became my shortcut around doing even the most basic type of graphic design and layout work. I started that early on primarily to make clear that I wasn’t just grabbing digital files online and playing them, I was legitimately invested in supporting the artists and labels being played on the show. It was also a simple way to show an appreciation for the physical objects themselves and the care and work that went into making them. That all remains true to this day. I still buy far too much music on various physical formats, and those releases typically guide the bulk of my listening time. But it seems like a simple change is long overdue for that main website post photo. Whether it’s an album that I wanted to play on an episode that hadn’t shown up in the mail on time, a cool digital submission from an artist overseas whose work is difficult to acquire in the States, a forthcoming album that I’m excited about, or simply a release that’s only available digitally, it seems like a lot of interesting stuff gets left out of those photos. While I’m going to continue to take them and share them in our social media posts and other places, you’ll notice the simple 3 x 3 grid that includes the cover artwork of six of the releases played on the episode. This allows you to properly see the artwork, but moving forward, you can also consider these to be my selected highlights for each episode. I’m guessing nobody really gives a shit about any of this, but if you’ve decided to read this far, maybe you do. Feel free to get in touch if you have any comments or questions. As always, thanks for looking and listening.
