It’s mid-November and we’re already grumbling about the bitter cold weather around these parts. Thank goodness we had some essential reissues to discuss over the past few weeks to keep us distracted. I’m referring to the new Captain Beefheart Sun Zoom Spark: 1970 to 1972 box set, the new deluxe edition of The Kink’s Muswell Hillbillies, and Mike Cooper’s utterly brilliant Trout Steel, which I can’t say enough good things about. We’ve also been loving the new Ulaan Markhor album and this forthcoming collection from Winnipeg’s F.P. Tranquilizer and Microdot. You’ll likely be hearing more from all of these releases in the weeks ahead. Also, mark your calendars for Thursday, December 18th, as we’ll be doing a Captain Beefheart Day Sponsorship on KMSU. In short, you’ll get to hear quite a bit of Beefheart throughout the day on KMSU and we’ll be doing a solid hour’s worth on our show that day. Stay tuned for more details.
